X-Bond is a premium microcement system made from a blend of stone and liquid polymers, applied by hand in thin layers to create a seamless architectural finish. Its advanced adhesion technology allows it to bond securely to suitable prepared surfaces, making it ideal for overlay applications across walls, floors, joinery, and wet areas in exterior environments.
Because each surface is hand-trowelled, every X-Bond finish has its own natural movement, texture, and tonal variation.

Maintenance & Cleaning Guide for Exterior Microcement
Outdoors, microcement surfaces are protected with specialised sealers to create a durable, weather-resistant finish designed for long-term performance in exterior applications. Resistant to moisture, staining, and everyday wear, microcement requires very little ongoing maintenance to maintain its appearance.
But like any finish, periodic maintenance is required — and differs depending on environmental exposure, traffic levels, and the specific application.
In most outdoor spaces, simple routine cleaning involves removing loose dirt and debris with a broom or leaf blower, then hosing down the surface using low- or high-pressure washing equipment. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaning products, or solvent-based cleaners.
X-Bond Exterior Finishes
As it’s a hand-applied render, microcement can be customised into different textures. For outdoor spaces, we can create four different X-Bond finishes applied using different tools and techniques.
X-Bond Hybrid is commonly specified for exterior feature walls and joinery. The result is a smooth, seamless finish with visible trowel markings — similar to polished concrete and traditional renders — achieving the classic microcement look.
X-Bond Hybrid
X-Bond Blade is a finish for external floor applications. We apply X-Bond with a blade instead of a standard trowel to create raised chatter marks. The additional texture achieves a P5 slip rating, making it the recommended choice for outdoor flooring.

Suitable for use on external walls and facades, this finish looks like raw concrete with irregular textural variations. The X-Bond is applied with both a spray gun and a trowel, so when it dries you get a beautiful contrast of smooth and rough areas to create the ‘pockmarked’ look of natural concrete slab.

For external walls and select flooring applications (ramps), we also offer X-Bond Mineral. It’s sprayed onto the surface and dries to create rough, bumpy texture similar to stucco.
