X-Bond Rammed Earth
Reimagining Rammed Earth
Rammed earth has always been prized for its texture, depth and connection to the natural landscape — but achieving that look has traditionally meant a slow, labour-intensive build process. X-Bond Rammed Earth changes that.
Using our proven X-Bond microcement system, we've engineered a finish that captures the same layered, hand-formed character of rammed earth — applied at just 5mm, by trowel, over your existing substrate. No formwork. No demolition. No months of lead time.
A Natural Finish, Engineered for the Real World
X-Bond Rammed Earth is available across a curated palette of earth tones — from warm ochre through to cool stone greys — giving architects and designers the rammed earth aesthetic with the practicality and reliability of a modern microcement system.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
X-Bond Rammed Earth is a hand-applied microcement finish that recreates the layered, textured look of traditional rammed earth — without the formwork, demolition, or long lead times of a genuine rammed earth build. It's applied directly over your existing substrate using the X-Bond system and a trowel, giving you the aesthetic of rammed earth with the practicality of a modern surface finish.
-
Traditional rammed earth is a structural building method, formed by compacting layers of earth within formwork — a slow, labour-intensive process usually reserved for new builds. X-Bond Rammed Earth is a surface finish, applied at approximately 5mm over existing walls, so you get the same visual depth and texture without needing to build a wall from scratch.
-
Yes — and that's part of the appeal. Because X-Bond Rammed Earth is hand-applied by a certified installer, no two walls are identical. Subtle variations in tone, texture and layering occur naturally during application, giving each project its own individual character — the same organic, one-of-a-kind quality you'd expect from genuine rammed earth.

Microtopping & Cementicious Coating
There are many different terms used to describe X-Bond. You may have heard the words Microcement, Microtopping, Cementicious Coating, Cementicious Topping and Concrete Overlay. X-Bond falls into all the above categories. Its cementicious properties allow it to be used in a range of different applications to create a concrete looking aesthetic but at a minimal depth. Microtoppings & Cementicious coatings are applied over an existing substrate at approximately 3mm thick, making it much easier to install and more cost effective then pouring actual concrete (not to mention no weight issues!)
