Substrate Suitability

X-Bond can be applied directly over a range of substrates including concrete, tiles, compressed sheeting, plaster, villa board, brick, ply, laminate & MDF.

X-Bond Bathroom Frost

Areas of Application

Internally and externally, suitable areas of application include: floors, walls, joinery, ceilings and wet areas such as showers, saunas, and steam rooms.

Why choose X-Bond?

Remodel without removal

Thanks to its advance adhesion and flexibility properties, X-Bond can be applied directly onto almost any existing substrate without the need for its removal. This makes it a more convenient, affordable, and environmentally-friendly option than materials requiring demolition.

Lightweight yet durable

X-Bond is hand applied at only 2-3mm thick to floors, walls and joinery to have minimal impact on the weight and height of your structures. Despite this minimal thickness, it’s exceptionally resistant to impact, stains, and wear for lasting durability in high-traffic spaces.

Versatile applications

X-Bond is suitable for floors, walls and joinery both internally and externally, including wet areas. It’s one of the only microcement products that can be applied in so many different areas; from your bathroom and shower to the sauna, benchtops, high-traffic flooring or feature walls.

Concrete resurfacing

As cement is variable by nature, if you’re not happy with your existing concrete slab condition, X-Bond can be hand trowelled over the top to provide you with a seamless floor finish in the colour and texture of your choosing. Learn more.

The X-Bond Finishes

There are four X-Bond Microcement finishes available. Each one is hand-applied by our artisans using a different specialised technique. Colour variations and visible trowel marks are a natural characteristic of every finish, and these may not be apparent in every colour swatch or sample. Please note: colours look different on every screen.

X-Bond Luma (formerly Micro)

X-Bond Luma (formerly called Micro) is hand-trowelled at 2-3mm thick over an existing substrate and then polished for a smooth, luminous feel. The finish has visible trowel marks creating a soft, cloudy pattern with textural, tonal and colour variation. Our most popular and versatile finish.

X-Bond Blade

X-Bond Blade is for external floor applications only. The X-Bond is applied with a blade which creates more pronounced chatter marks for added texture, achieving a higher slip rating.

X-Bond Mineral

If you’re after a highly textured wall finish, or an anti-slip floor, X-Bond Mineral is for you. The X-Bond is sprayed onto the existing surface with a spray gun and left to dry, creating a rough, stucco-like surface.

X-Bond Natural Concrete

X-Bond Natural Concrete is suitable for feature walls and joinery. The finish is inspired by the organic, imperfect texture of raw concrete. First we spray X-Bond onto the wall, and then we pass the trowel over it to create a mix of smooth and textured areas throughout.

  • As X-Bond is sealed and not left in a raw state, it is not pourous. This means water does not seep into the surface.

There are many different terms used to describe X-Bond. You may have heard the words Microcement, Microtopping, Cementicious Coating, Cementicious Topping and Concrete Overlay. X-Bond falls into all the above categories. Its cementicious properties allow it to be used in a range of different applications to create a concrete looking aesthetic but at a minimal depth. Microtoppings & Cementicious coatings are applied over an existing substrate at approximately 3mm thick, making it much easier to install and more cost effective then pouring actual concrete (not to mention no weight issues!)
