Discover Our Microcement System: X-Bond
X-Bond Microcement is a hand-applied coating made from a blend of natural stone and liquid polymers. Designed to go directly over existing surfaces — including concrete, tiles, screed, and even timber — it forms a seamless, joint-free finish for walls in a wide range of areas. With a lightweight, flexible formula and advanced molecular bonding for superior adhesion, it’s a smart solution for overlays, renovations, and new builds alike.
Key Benefits:
Little impact on load-bearing capacity or wall thickness (2-3mm thick)
Reduced risk of delamination & cracking
Hand-trowelled for unique, artisanal texture options
Waterproofed for use on walls in wet areas
Common Microcement Wall Applications
Microcement offers remarkable versatility, suitable for:
Feature walls
External walls and facades
Shopfronts
Showers and saunas
Sink splashbacks
That said, the long-term performance of microcement relies heavily on proper surface preparation and high-quality sealing. Otherwise, you may see premature signs of wear, staining, or weather exposure.
It’s also important to note that microcement isn’t inherently waterproof. For walls in wet areas or external spaces, it must be installed over a certified waterproofing membrane and then sealed to ensure lasting protection.
Maintenance & Cleaning Guide for Microcement Walls
Microcement is always finished with a sealer, which creates a highly resilient and low-maintenance surface. Resistant to stains, mould, and wear; it requires minimal upkeep and rarely needs more than a light clean.
For internal maintenance, walls need little upkeep. If needed, you can wipe the surface with a soft cloth, water, and a mild household cleaner. Avoid harsh or abrasive products, including solvent-based cleaners like acetone or any concentrate stronger than 50%. External walls can be hosed down with low- or high-pressure washing equipment.
X-Bond Wall Finishes
As it’s a hand-applied render, microcement can be customised into different textures. We can finish your X-Bond Microcement flooring with three different textures, applied using different tools and techniques.
X-Bond Luma is our most popular finish for internal walls. The result is a smooth, seamless finish similar to polished concrete, with visible trowel markings. Based on your colour choice, the variation in texture and tone may be subtle or more obvious.
X-Bond Luma
A microcement that looks like raw concrete with beautiful textured variations. The X-Bond is sprayed onto the wall and then smoothed out using a hand trowel. This creates a contrast of smooth and rough areas and provides a similar look to a natural concrete slab.
X-Bond Natural Concrete
For feature walls, this highly tactile finish is achieved with a spray gun. The microcement dries to create a bumpy texture similar to stucco — inspired by salt formations and mineral caves.
