Durable & Hardwearing: Scratch, stain and UV resistant when properly sealed.
Customisable: Choose from a range of colours and textures to suit your space.
Easy Maintenance: A sealed surface makes cleaning simple and fuss-free.
Versatile: Suitable for interiors, exteriors, and wet areas including showers.
Discover Our Microcement System: X-Bond
A microcement coating made from stone and liquid polymers, applied by hand in thin layers directly over existing surfaces like concrete, tiles, screed, and even wood. It creates a continuous, joint-free finish that mimics the look of polished concrete but with less rigidity and far less structural load. Thanks to its minimal thickness (approx. 2–3mm) and innovative molecular technology ensuring exceptional adhesion, X-Bond Microcement is ideal for new builds, renovations, and overlay projects.
Key Benefits:
High adhesion and flexibility
Low VOC and environmentally conscious
Hand-trowelled for unique, artisanal texture options
Can be used on floors in wet areas and external areas
Common Microcement Floor Applications
In 25 years, we’ve covered every corner of the house inside and out — from kitchens, living areas and bathrooms to garden pathways, pool decks, and balconies. Aside from residential applications, X-Bond Microcement flooring is frequently specified in:
Retail stores
Commercial buildings and offices
Public works including universities and schools
Restaurants, cafés, and hospitality venues
We can install X-Bond over almost any hard, level, and stable substrate. It can even be applied over damaged floors and in wet areas. In this instance, prior to application, the area will be prepared with an anti-fracture and waterproofing membrane (note that Alt. Surfaces cannot be responsible for substrate failure, where the existing substrate moves and causes damage to the overlay).
Maintenance & Cleaning Guide for Microcement Flooring
Microcement is always finished with a sealer, which creates a highly resilient and low-maintenance surface. Resistant to stains, mould, and wear; it requires minimal upkeep and rarely needs more than a light clean.
For internal maintenance, simply mop the surface occasionally with a clean microfiber dust mop, water, and a mild detergent — especially in areas with heavy foot traffic or visible dirt. Avoid harsh or abrasive products, including solvent-based cleaners like acetone or any concentrate stronger than 50%. Most standard household cleaners are perfectly suitable. External flooring can be hosed down with low- or high-pressure washing equipment.
X-Bond Floor Finishes
As it’s a hand-applied render, microcement can be customised into different textures. We can finish your X-Bond Microcement flooring with three different textures, applied using different tools and techniques.
X-Bond Luma is our most popular finish for internal flooring, hand-trowelled onto the floor and then sanded. The result is a smooth, seamless finish similar to polished concrete, with visible trowel markings. Based on your colour choice, the variation in texture and tone may be subtle or more obvious.
X-Bond Luma
X-Bond Blade is for external floor applications. We apply X-Bond with a blade instead of a standard trowel to create raised chatter marks. The additional texture achieves a P5 slip rating, making it our recommended choice for outdoor areas that get wet or slippery.
X-Bond Blade
For select external flooring applications and ramps, we offer X-Bond Mineral. Another anti-slip option, it’s sprayed onto the surface and dries to create rough, bumpy texture similar to stucco.
