X-Bond at Viktoria & Woods Chadstone

Designed by GOLDEN, the Viktoria and Woods Flagship Chadstone store reflects the brand’s pared-back approach to unique and modern fashion design; simplicity made striking. As much a gallery as it is a boutique, garments and shoes are displayed on rails and plinths illuminated against high, sweeping walls—a space imbued with an appreciation for the art of fashion, fit for a label with a catalogue full of masterpieces.

Finished with X-Bond Microcement in the color ‘Umber’—a gloriously rich and warm brown hue—the floors carry that signature neutral palette which Vik & Woods is so affectionately known for. Hand trowelled over an existing concrete slab, it looks as soft as the merino wool sweaters lining the racks above.

That raw texture, in an organic beige tone, provides a natural element to balance the more luxurious stylistic touches like that breath-taking marble countertop or puffy leather armchair. It’s this practise of bringing sophisticated modernity back to earth which characterises the Vik & Woods approach to fashion design, again demonstrating that the floors of this store were built from an acute understanding of the brand itself (and X-Bond, of course).

It’s an interior where refined elegance meets contemporary minimalism, upscale but completely un-pretentious just like the clothing displayed within. Where the power of X-Bond to elevate yet ground a space is on full display, exemplifying the beauty of soothingly seamless surfaces.
